Addressing Challenges in Labor Cooperation
Labor supply enterprises noted challenges in expanding cooperation with Europe, such as:
- Limited information about European labor markets.
- Insufficient expertise and skills among Vietnamese workers to meet Europe’s high standards.
- Geographical distance, language, and cultural barriers.
- Intense competition from other labor-supplying countries.
Despite these hurdles, Vietnam remains committed to improving labor quality and meeting European expectations through targeted training programs and enhanced policies.
Legal Framework: A Crucial Next Step
Vietnamese embassies in Europe highlighted the urgent need for formal labor agreements between Vietnam and European countries. At present, only Germany and Romania have such agreements, while other partnerships remain limited to small-scale business contracts lacking formal governmental regulations. Signing bilateral labor agreements is essential to establishing a robust legal foundation for long-term cooperation.
Collaborative Spirit for Mutual Growth
In line with the philosophy of “serving people and businesses,” the workshop brought together key stakeholders, including Vietnamese and European embassies, ministries, and enterprises specializing in training and human resource supply. These discussions aimed to identify practical solutions to improve the process of sending Vietnamese workers to Europe and further enhance labor cooperation as a vital element of Vietnam-Europe relations.
Commitment to Sustainable Cooperation
In their closing remarks, leaders from Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs reaffirmed their commitment to:
- Effectively implementing labor export policies.
- Strengthening sustainable partnerships with European employers.
- Protecting the rights and interests of Vietnamese workers abroad.
